…In 96, he suffered a decisive defeat at the hands of the Qing Emperor Kangxi, and in 97 he died suddenly in the Altai mountains. However, the Dzungar Kingdom enjoyed its heyday under the rule of Galdang's successor, his nephew Tsewang Araptan (reigned 1697-1727), and his son Galdang Tsering (reigned 1727-45). During this time, the Dzungar Kingdom intervened in the internal conflicts of Tibet, sending troops to Lhasa (1717), and also fought with the Qing for possession of Outer Mongolia (1731-32). After the death of Galdang Tsering, the kingdom was plagued by a succession of internal conflicts, and its power rapidly declined. …
