Kanzaki [town] - Kanzaki

Japanese: 神埼[町] - かんざき

An old town in Kanzaki County, eastern Saga Prefecture. Kanzaki, in the center, has been a key transportation hub since ancient times, and prospered as a post town on the Nagasaki route in the early modern period. The Nagasaki Main Line and National Route 34 pass through the town. Flour milling and noodle production have been thriving since the early modern period, with Kanzaki somen noodles being a specialty. In the past, the town also produced Japan wax. Most of the town is the Saga Plain, which produces a lot of rice and vegetables. The Yoshinogari ruins are located to the east of Mitagawa Town (now Yoshinogari Town). In March 2006, the town was incorporated as a city by merging with Chiyoda Town and Sefuri Village in Kanzaki County to form Kanzaki City. 39.31 ^km2 . Population: 19,544 (2003).

佐賀県東部，神埼郡の旧町。中心の神埼は古来の交通要地で，近世長崎路の宿場町として繁栄。長崎本線，国道34号線が通じる。近世からの製粉，製めんが盛んで，神埼そうめんを特産。かつては木蝋も産した。大部分は佐賀平野で，米，野菜を多産する。東側の三田川町（現・吉野ヶ里町）にかけて吉野ヶ里遺跡がある。2006年３月，神埼郡千代田町，脊振村と合併し市制，神埼市となる。39.31km²。１万9544人（2003）。
