Japanese: sander

...the alluvial fan-shaped plain formed by the braided water currents that flow out from the terminus of a glacier. The term is mainly used in English-speaking countries, and is called sander in Iceland, and sander or sandr is the general name in Europe. Huge moraine banks form at the margins of glaciers, and outwash plains develop outside of them.

[Sander]
A machine that uses abrasive paper (sandpaper) to perform grinding primarily for the purpose of finishing the surface of a workpiece. A belt sander is a machine that uses a loop-shaped belt with both ends of a long, thin piece of abrasive paper joined together, which is hung on two or more pulleys arranged horizontally and in parallel, and grinds the workpiece on the table with the horizontal surface of the belt. In this process, a pad on the inside of the belt moves back and forth from side to side, applying pressure to the workpiece on the outside and grinding it.
