In rocket vehicles, this is a general term for rockets other than the main rocket engine. However, boosters are sometimes not included. The most common auxiliary rockets and their roles are explained below. (1) Control rockets A rocket intended to generate attitude control forces for the rocket or to fine-tune the flight speed. Liquid monopropellant rockets are often used, but bipropellants, solid rockets, and in some cases room temperature gas jets are also used. (2) Ullage motor A rocket intended to apply a small acceleration in the axial direction of the vehicle in order to keep the liquid level in the tank at a normal state when starting the engine from a weightless state in a liquid rocket.

ロケット飛翔（ひしよう）体において，主ロケットエンジン以外のロケットの総称である。ただしブースターはこれに含めないこともある。代表的な補助ロケットとその役割を以下に解説する。(1)制御用ロケット　ロケットの姿勢制御力の発生，あるいは飛行速度の微調整を目的とするロケット。液体のモノプロペラントロケットを用いる例が多いが，バイプロペラントや固体ロケット，場合によっては常温ガスジェットも用いられる。(2)アレッジモーター　液体ロケットにおいて，エンジンを無重力状態から起動するとき，タンク内液面を正規状態に保持するため，微小な加速度を機軸方向に加えることを目的としたロケット。
