Born in the 8th year of the Kyoho era. A native of Edo. A subordinate to the Edo shogunate's timber and stone magistrate. In 1752, he became a disciple of the 3rd Somaru Mizoguchi, and became the 4th Somaru of Sokanian, inheriting the Katsushika school of haiku. He passed away on January 15th, 1815. He was 85 years old. His given name was Katsuteru. He was also known by the names Tomiemon and Sadashiro. His other pen names were Shichirokuan and Chikuryosha.
