School Extinction Theory - gakkoshimetsuron

...This system was based on a unified basic school system of six years (primary school) for children entering at age five, to which secondary schools were connected. However, secondary schools were divided into three categories: grammar schools, technical schools, and modern schools, which were upgraded from high elementary schools. Attempts to integrate these into a single comprehensive school had to wait until after World War II, especially when the Labor Party came to power. For a time after the socialist revolution in the Soviet Union, there was a theory that schools were dying out. This theory held that schools would die out as the masses learned more about construction, struggle, and practice. The theory went that as the significance and role of schools expanded indefinitely, with club activities being held at schools, schools organizing work for children in the community and at home, and providing children with reading materials, the school would cease to exist as a school, and children would be more likely to be active outside of school in fields and factories.
