Kazusa Kokufu

Japanese: 上総国府 - かずさこくふ
Kazusa Kokufu

...former name of the province. Part of present-day Chiba Prefecture, occupying the northern part of the Boso Peninsula.
[Ancient times]
A large province belonging to the Tokaido (Engishiki). It was originally called Fusa (General), and with the establishment of ritsuryo provinces in the second half of the 7th century, Kazusa Province and Shimousa Province were established. According to the Kuni no Miyatsuko Honki, during the reign of Emperor Seimu, the kuni no Miyatsuko of Sue, Makuta, Kamitsunakami, Ijin, Musa, Kukuma, and Awa were established in the Fusa region, and during the reign of Emperor Ojin, the kuni no Miyatsuko of Inba and Shimotsuunakami were established.
