かぶせ‐もの【被物】

〘名〙① だまして他へおしつけた物。※浄瑠璃・行平磯馴松(1738)一「弟の業平と、二条の后がててくって、其間に懐胎せしを、父帝へかぶせ物」② 表面だけを、立派なもののようにしてごまかしたもの。まやかしもの。※浮世草子・世間化物気質(1770)二「かやうなかぶせものとは、中々以て暫時も置事叶はず」③ 歌舞伎の下座音楽で、あらかじめ定められている鳴り物に、新しく別の音を加えること。また、その鳴り物。

かずき‐もの かづき‥【被物】

〘名〙 (「かつぎもの」とも)① 頭にかぶるもの。被衣(かずき)や帽子など。かぶりもの。※虎明本狂言・眉目吉(室町末‐近世初)「なふなふ、はやうかつき物をとらさせられひ」② 自分の負担や損失となるもの。やっかいもの。しょいこみ。※浮世草子・色里三所世帯(1688)下「なさけない事は此床のわるさ肌(はたへ)ひややかにして御茶入むしゃうに広沢のかづき物」

きせ‐もの【被物】

〘名〙① 衣服など、物の表面にかぶせ着せるもの。きせるもの。かぶせるもの。※玉塵抄(1563)四五「ひろう大にくびを打ををうやうに癭をかくすきせものをぬうぞ」② ある物の上に他の物をかぶせ包み、それと見せかけるもの。かぶせもの。〔羅葡日辞書(1595)〕

ひ‐もつ【被物】

〘名〙 労をねぎらい、功を賞して与える衣服類など。かずけもの。ひぶつ。※吾妻鏡‐文治四年(1188)正月八日「心経会也。〈略〉事訖賜御布施。導師分被物二重。馬一疋」
