A large amount of pottery, ironware, cylindrical beads, grinding stones, and other artifacts have been excavated from the Kajigaya Shinmeishakami site in Takatsu Ward, including an iron axe of high documentary value. From the late Yayoi to the Kofun period, a Yayoi period settlement was found at the Higashitakane site in Miyamae Ward, and a large square moated grave measuring 20 meters on each side was excavated at the Nagao Koizaka site in Tama Ward.
