Lower Egypt

A geographical and cultural division of the Nile basin in Egypt, beginning at Cairo (latitude 30° north) at the top of the Nile Delta and ending at the Mediterranean Sea, Lower Egypt is the region that is the most fertile in the world, in stark contrast to Upper Egypt. King Menes of the Early Dynastic Period was the first to unify Upper and Lower Egypt.
