Figure 6 shows an example of a rotary dryer. The material and hot air are supplied in a countercurrent or parallel flow into a long, gently inclined rotating cylinder with many material-raising blades on the inside. The material is raised and falls from the blades like a curtain while repeatedly coming into contact with the hot air, gradually moving in the direction of the cylinder's inclination and drying. This type of dryer is suitable for granular or flaky materials.
