The Anthology of the Sodo-shu (English: Zǔ táng jí)

Japanese: 祖堂集 - そどうしゅう（英語表記）Zǔ táng jí

A Chinese history of Zen Buddhism. 20 volumes. Published in 952 (the 10th year of Baoda in the Southern Tang Dynasty). Compiled by Zen Master Jingjun, who was a disciple of Zen master Bunto at the Zhaoqing Temple in Quanzhou. Starting with the Seven Buddhas, through 28 generations in India and 6 generations in China to Bunto, it gives the names of 234 Zen masters and the procedure for the transmission of the torch. The word "so-do" means the innermost part of the temple of a Zen master, or the secret teachings. Bunto followed Baofu Zhongzhan, who in turn followed Xuefeng Yizon. Yizon was a representative figure of Chinese Zen in the late Tang and Five Dynasties, and it is said that he had 1,700 disciples.

中国，禅宗史書の一つ。20巻。五代の南唐保大10年(952)の成立。泉州招慶寺の浄修禅師文僜（ぶんとう）の下にいた静筠二禅徳の編。過去七仏にはじまって，インドの28代，中国の6代を経て文僜に至る234人の祖師の名と，伝灯相承（そうじよう）の次第を述べたもの。祖堂とは，祖師の堂奥，つまり奥義の意である。文僜は保福従展につぎ，保福は雪峰義存につぐ。義存は，唐末五代の中国禅の代表的存在で，その弟子は1700とよばれた。
