External mold method

...There are two types of color development: one in which the coupler is incorporated into the photosensitive layer, and one in which it is included in the developer. The former, in which the coupler is incorporated into each photosensitive layer and a dye image of the three primary colors is produced in one color development, is called the internal type, while the latter, in which the coupler is included in the developer, is called the external type, in which a dye image is produced by color developing each photosensitive layer three times with a developer containing a different coupler. Most color development developing agents are derivatives of p -phenylenediamine, and some representative examples are as follows:
