Orokoro tribe

…Many masks have their own origin myths. Among the Orokolo people of Papua New Guinea, three types of masks are distinguished: Kobabe, Hebehe, and Ehalo. They are used in ceremonies, mainly by men. The origin of the masks is said to be that a sea monster was killed, dismembered, and eaten, and a woman discovered the mask among its innards.
