…She made her Broadway debut in 1912 in The Red Petticoat. Her most famous work is Show Boat, which premiered in 1927 (lyrics by Hammerstein II), and the song Ol' Man River from this musical is considered a masterpiece, along with Smoke Gets in Your Eyes from the musical Roberta, which premiered in 1933.
