Born: 1844 [Died] 1903. Tokyo Kabuki actor. Stage name Otowaya. Second son of Ichimura Uzaemon 12th. Real name Terashima Kiyoshi. Succeeded the name in 1868 (Meiji 1) for the fifth time. Leading actor. Created masterpieces in Kawatake Mokuami's live domestic dramas. Excellent in dance, he established ten kinds of new and old drama as the family art. A great actor of the Meiji period, known as "Dankikuza" along with Ichikawa Danjuro 9th and Ichikawa Sadanji 1st.
