Ozonide

Also called an ozonide. A compound in which the electrophilic species ozone is added to the double bond of alkenes. Generally, it is an oily liquid that decomposes easily and is explosive. It easily produces aldehydes and ketones by reaction with water or reduction. This decomposition reaction is called ozonolysis, and is used to determine the structure of unsaturated compounds. Alkynes also react in the same way.

オゾン化物ともいう．アルケン類の二重結合に求電子種であるオゾンが付加した化合物．一般には，分解しやすい油状の液体で爆発性がある．水との反応あるいは還元によって容易にアルデヒドやケトンを生成する．この分解反応をオゾン分解といい，不飽和化合物の構造決定に利用される．アルキン類も同様に反応する．
