Okuetsu

...In the age of high-speed transportation, its influence now extends widely throughout the entire Reihoku region. Traditionally, the southern part of Reihoku, centered around Takefu City, and Okuetsu, centered around Ono and Katsuyama, have been treated as separate regions. Takefu City, the site of the ancient provincial capital, has maintained its importance even after the Middle Ages, and even today it has a considerable commercial area within the basin and in both Nanjo and Imadate counties.
