Years of birth and death unknown. A military commander on the side of Omi in the Jinshin War (672). He was of the same clan as the powerful Keno clan of Kanto. His surname was Kimi. In the 13th year of Tenmu (684), he changed his surname to Yashiki and became an Ason. He was the father of Azumahito. On July 4th, the 1st year of Tenmu, he fought and defeated Otomo Fukiei, the general on the side of Prince Oama (later Emperor Tenmu), at Mt. Noraku (a hill in the north of Nara City), where Fukiei had set up camp. He pursued Fukiei's army further to Yakuchi (near Mount Kagu in Kashihara City), but when he looked towards the capital (Yamato-kyo), he saw shields set up in every town, so he turned back, fearing that there were ambushes. In the death biography of Azumahito in the November entry of the 14th year of Tenpyo in the Shoku Nihongi, Kayasu appears to have been "Naohiroshi, Chief Inspector of the Asuka Imperial Court" (Chief of the Danjodai, Junior Fifth Rank).
