As the Engishiki describes how to cultivate daikon, it has been cultivated and eaten since ancient times. Its ancient name was "Oone," and the Wamyōshō uses the characters "葍" and "蘿菔," stating that "the two characters for daikon are commonly used." It can also be written as "蘿蔔 (rafu)," and it is said that the word "senrōbu," meaning "sliced ​​into thin strips," became corrupted to form the word "senrokuhon."
