Hisashi Odate - Hisauji Odate

Years of birth: Years of birth and death unknown. A warlord in the Warring States period, he was a Shintsugu and Naidanshu of the Muromachi Shogunate. His father was Noriuji, the son of Mochifusa. His posthumous Buddhist name was Tsuneoki. His diary, the Odate Tsuneoki Diary, is a famous document in political history, and the entries covering the years from 1538 to 1541 remain. He became a Shintsugu attendant to Shogun Ashikaga Yoshihisa, and in 1477 he became a Shintsugu. In September 1487, he accompanied Yoshihisa to Omi as the head of the Gobanshu, and was appointed to the Council of Ministers. He also served Shoguns Ashikaga Yoshitane and Yoshiharu, and became a Shintsugu and Naidanshu, and was a close attendant to the Shogun and had contact with the nobles. He lived to be over 80 years old, and left behind books of historical fact such as the Odate Tsuneoki Shosatsusho, Shosatsuninsama Hidensho, Odate Nenju Gyoji, and Odate Iyo no Kami Issatsu.

戦国時代の武将,室町幕府の申次,内談衆。父は持房の子教氏。法名常興。その日記『大館常興日記』は政治史上の著名資料であり,天文7(1538)年から同11年までの分が残る。将軍足利義尚の御供衆となり,文明9(1477)年には申次となる。長享1(1487)年9月の義尚の近江出陣には五番衆の筆頭として従い,評定衆に任ぜられている。将軍足利義稙・義晴らにも仕えて申次,内談衆となり,将軍に近侍して公家とも往来した。八十余歳を生き,『大館常興書札抄』『書札認様秘伝抄』『大館年中行事』『大館伊予守一冊』などの故実書を残した。
