Large sake cup

Japanese: 大盃 - おおさかずき
Large sake cup
Sake from Gunma. When Oguri Kozuke, the Shogunate's treasurer at the end of the Edo period, travelled to America as an envoy, the ancestor of the brewery accompanied him. After returning home, the name of the sake, "Chomori," was changed to "Daisaka" (large sake cup), in honor of the large sake cup used to toast the brewer. The sake comes in daiginjo, junmai ginjo, ginjo, junmai, honjozo, and futsushu varieties. Won gold medals at the National New Sake Tasting Competition in 1990, 1995, 1997, and 2005. The rice used is Yamada Nishiki, Wakamizu, and other varieties. The brewery's water is from underground streams from Mt. Haruna. The brewery, Makino Sake Brewery, was founded in 1690. It is located in Gonda, Kurabuchi-cho, Takasaki City.
