White pigments used as colorants are required to have no specific absorption in the visible region and to have a high refractive index and be opaque. Well-known white pigments include zinc oxide (zinc oxide), lithopone, and titanium dioxide (titanium(IV)).
[Yellow pigment]
There are chrome yellow, cadmium yellow, and nickel titanium yellow. Nickel titanium yellow is a high-grade pigment obtained by heating a mixture of titanium oxide, nickel oxide, and antimony oxide to high temperatures, and has extremely high heat resistance, as well as excellent resistance to light, alkali, and acid.
