Martinus V (English spelling) MartinusV

Japanese: Martinus V(英語表記)MartinusV
Martinus V (English spelling) MartinusV

...The conflict between the two popes, which was accompanied by frequent military actions, became more serious as the political interests of each country became more complicated. In an attempt to resolve this, the Council of Pisa in 1409 elected Alexander V as the new pope. However, it ended up with three popes, and failed. It was finally resolved by the Council of Constance, which deposed two popes, voluntarily abdicated one, and elected the new pope Martin V. In East-West relations, the schism of Akakios (484-519) and the schism of Photius (858-886) are well known, but the schism between the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Church of Rome, which has continued since 1054 to the present day, is particularly noteworthy.

From the Council of Basel

…a council convened by Pope Martin V in Basel, Switzerland, from 1431 to 1439, with the objective of uniting the Eastern and Western churches and ending the Hussite Wars.
