...National Route 144 passes through the old Torii Pass, which is located north of the current pass and passes at an altitude of 1,390m. During the Edo period, the Ozasa Highway, which passed through the pass, prospered as a side road to the Hokkoku Highway, and was also called Abura Pass because large amounts of oil seeds from northern Shinano were transported through it.
