...It is found in the mountains of Chichibu and Okutama, the Central Alps, and the Ibuki Mountains. S. alata A. Gray has swollen roots that go straight into the ground, winged stems, and grows to about 1.5m in height. It is found on the coasts of the Tohoku region, Hokkaido, and Sakhalin.
