Service ability test - Ekiyou no uryoku kentei

...The test is conducted on the amount and quality of hair. The amount of hair is measured by the amount of dirty hair, the amount of pure hair, and the washing yield, while the quality of hair is measured by the fineness (thickness), length, and strength/stretchability.

For draft animals, tests are conducted in which the animal is made to pull a cart of a specified weight over a specified distance and their gait, level of fatigue, and time taken to pull the cart are measured. For racehorses, which emphasize speed, tests are conducted in which changes in respiratory rate, body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, blood properties, etc. before and after running a certain distance, and the recovery rate of these parameters is observed.
