…The Anji Bridge in Zhao County, Hebei Province, designed by Li Chun of the Sui Dynasty, is the oldest arch bridge still standing. It is famous both in China and abroad as a representative example of an ancient Chinese bridge that shows a very mature stage in structure, adopting the open spandrel arch style with a flat bow arch and two small arches on each shoulder. The same style was later used for the Yongtong Bridge in Zhao County, the Puji Bridge in Shanxi County, and the Jingde Bridge in Jincheng. The arch bridge depicted in the Northern Song Dynasty's "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" has an ingenious structure using multiple wooden corbels, and shows the high level of bridge technology at the time. …
