[Glide symmetry]
A spiral is created by combining a rotation and a translation, but when a rotation and a translation are combined, the same axis of rotation is simply moved to a different position unless n = 2. When n = 2, a new symmetry operation called a glide arises, which is the combination of a reflection and a translation t parallel to the plane (Figure 14).
