Swimming bell - Eisho

...There is a narrow membrane called a margin along the inside of the umbrella, which is a major characteristic of hydromedusa. The tube jellyfish, such as the Portuguese man-of-war (illustration) and the Baren jellyfish, have a float called a swimming bell at the top, and the lower part is made up of polyps with various functions. The 5cm-high tube jellyfish, which grow densely in seawater and can cause damage to fishing nets and various facilities, and the Portuguese man-of-war and the keynote jellyfish, which have strong nematocyst venom, can plague swimmers.
