…In September 1065 (Jiriyaku 1), a copy of a Dajokan document prohibiting the taking of "prize money" at ports and other places along the way when transporting tributes from Etchu Province, this port was listed along with Shiotsu, Oura, and Kizu in Omi and Tsuruga-tsu in Echizen, and it is known that at the time it was a key port on the way from the Hokuriku region via Omi to Kyoto (Mibu family documents). The importance of Keyamatsu is also likely the reason why Uwa-nishi Shrine, a shrine listed in the Engishiki, located here, was the only shrine on the Hokuriku road that received offerings at Tsuki-nami and Niiname. …1065年(治暦1)9月，越中国の調物運漕に際し，路次の国々の津泊などで〈勝載料〉を割き取ることを禁じた太政官符(写)に，近江の塩津･大浦･木津，越前の敦賀津とともにこの津が見え，当時北陸方面から近江を経て京都に至るための一要津であったことが知られる(壬生家文書)。この地に鎮座する式内社宇波西（うわせ）神社が，月次･新嘗の奉幣にあずかる北陸道唯一の社格を有したのも，気山津の重要性によると思われる。南北朝期ごろ以後は，小浜の繁栄とともにしだいに衰微したらしい。…
