Born Dan Jing Chou (English)

Japanese: 生旦浄丑 - せいたんじょうちゅう（英語表記）shēng dàn jìng chŏu

In traditional Chinese theater, roles categorized according to the gender, status, and personality of the person are called "adaptations," and this is a typical example. Sheng is a male role, Dan is a female role, Jing is an enemy role that sometimes has a clownish side or is a heroic character with a unique personality, and Ushi is a clown or a petty villain. Each role is further subdivided by age, etc. For example, in Peking opera, Sheng is divided into Old Sheng, who plays a saggy man, Little Sheng, who plays a young man, and Wu Sheng, who mainly performs stage moves, and each of these is further divided into several roles.
