The best-preserved ziggurat at Ur has a base measuring 60m x 45m, and although only two levels remain, it is believed that a temple to the moon god Nannar was located on top of the three-tiered foundation. The ziggurat is surrounded by a wall and forms a complex with a place of worship and a courtyard.
