Ubusuna Mairi - Visit to the birthplace of one's mother
〘noun〙 A visit to the local guardian deity (Ubusunagami) . In particular, a newborn's first visit to the local guardian deity. The time varies - around the 21st day, 30th day, or 100th day - but it is usually around the time when the mourning period for childbirth ends. For boys, it can be the 31st day, for girls the 33rd day, and so on - and the time can vary by a few days depending on gender. Ubusuna-mou de. *Hashishu Kojitsu (mid-16th century?) "On the 28th day of November in the 5th year of Tenbun, the young lord made his first visit to the Ubusunagami."
