...The Utrecht Observatory and the Kaptein Memorial Institute, which discovered the 21 cm radio emission line of hydrogen atoms and used a 25 m diameter parabolic antenna belonging to the observatory to reveal for the first time that the distribution of hydrogen atoms throughout the Milky Way has a spiral pattern, have also made great contributions to astrophysics. In Sweden, the Uppsala Observatory was founded in 1739, and its Kvistaberg branch has a 1 m Schmidt telescope. Along with the Runt Observatory and the Stockholm Observatory, it has made great contributions to the research of astrophysics and galactic astronomy.
