Utori Shrine

This shrine is located in Fudai Village, Shimohei District, Iwate Prefecture. The kanji for cormorant bird can be read as "unotori" or "unedori." The main shrine is located near the summit of Mount Unetori. The Cormorant Kagura dance, which is dedicated at the annual festival held on April 8th of the lunar calendar every year, is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. 岩手県下閉伊郡普代村にある神社。鵜鳥は“うのとり”“うねどり”と読む。本殿は卯子酉(うねとり)山山頂付近にある。毎年旧暦の4月8日に行われる例大祭で奉納される鵜鳥神楽は国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定。
