The Building Standards Act requires that all major structural components of large buildings, such as those shown in Figure 3, be fireproof (called fireproof buildings), but there are also regulations for simplified fireproof buildings, mainly for buildings two stories or less. These include two types: those in which the exterior walls are made of fireproof construction to prevent the spread of fire from other areas, and those with fireproof frame construction, in which the major structural components are made of fireproof or semi-fireproof materials.
