〘 noun 〙① = Ushiromusubi (back knot) ①⇔Holding obi. ※Nippo Jisho (1603-04) “Vxirovobiuo (Ushirowobiwo) suru” ② Young woman. Also, especially a prostitute who wears her obi tied behind her back and looks like an amateur girl. ※Sakehon Kyojitsu Yanagiko Hougen (1794) vol. 1 “The beautiful things in the back obi, when you are with two people” [Eloquence] (1) It seems that the knot made in front was turned to the back when wearing it, but if the width of the obi was narrow and the knot was small, it did not interfere with movement, and also, until around the Kanbun era ( 1661-73 ), people did not tie the obi and folded it in, so the position did not matter much. (2) Prostitutes used to wear obi in front, but as time went on, they began to tie it at the back in the amateur style, and these also came to be called 'ura obi' in pleasure quarters jargon. ※日葡辞書(1603‐04)「Vxirovobiuo(ウシロヲビヲ) スル」② 娘。
