Ushiki Castle

...The center of the Anan region (the southern part of the former Awa Province, south of Mt. Tsurugi). The central city of Tomioka is located at the mouth of the Naka River and was the castle town of Ushiki Castle from the Tensho era (1573-92). As one of the nine Awa castles, it was a strategic location to the south. It was also a collection point for rafts that floated down the Naka River and a key transportation route.
