...The following plays were first performed in the 1960s. Since then, he has produced numerous plays, including "The Devil's Disciple" (1897), which satirizes heroism; "Mrs. Warren's Profession" (1902), which deals with the issue of prostitution; "Man and the Superman" (1905), which embodies the philosophy of vitality; "Caesar and Cleopatra" (1906), which mocks heroes; and "Saint Joan" (1923), which has Joan of Arc as the protagonist. "Pygmalion" (1913), in which a phonetician teaches upper-class speech and etiquette to a flower girl to turn her into a lady, was later made into a musical drama on Broadway in the United States, and then into a film, "My Fair Lady" (1964, directed by G. Cukor, won the Academy Award for Best Picture, among others).
