Willendorf - Willendorf

...A little way down from Melk, on the right bank you can see the ruins of Schönbühel Castle, built on the rocks, and Aggstein Castle. The small village of Willendorf on the left bank nearby is where the famous nude Paleolithic female statue, known as the "Venus of Willendorf," was excavated. Spitz has a beautiful Gothic church, and downstream you can see the old castle of Dürnstein, known as the "pearl of the Wachau."
