...Against the backdrop of the movement for freedom and unity in Germany, which was rekindled in the wake of the July Revolution in France and the Polish uprising in 1830, a mass rally was held on May 27-30, 1832, at the ruins of Hambach Castle near Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in western Germany, bringing together representatives from almost all German cities, as well as about 30,000 craftsmen and farmers from the surrounding area. The purpose of the rally was for the participants to demonstrate to the whole of Germany their will to fight for freedom and unity, and to discuss future measures. However, reflecting the situation in the 1830s when the most radical part of the opposition had already become republican, it also became a place where clear differences of opinion became apparent between those who represented republican tendencies, such as PJ Siebenpfeiffer and JGA Wirth, and those who maintained a liberal position, such as F.
