〘Noun〙① In the ancient military system, the leader of 10 soldiers (one fire). ※Man'yoshu (late 8th century) 20, 4373, left note: "The one fire chief is now Hobe Yosobu" [New Book of Tang - Military History] ② A selection of guards from the Emonfu under the command of the Kebiishi. Sometimes it was used to refer to the Chief Inspector (Kado no Osa) and the Chief Planner ( Anju ) . ※Sandai Kaku - 20, December 21, 1st year of Engi (782) "The accompanying messengers and _other servants were ordered to wear _peach -dyed robes and large swords, _and falsely called themselves _fire _chiefs to display their formidable _{and fearsome} qualities. _"
