Caterpillar-type larvae

...Large larvae with developed antennae and mouthparts on the head and three pairs of tarsus segments and clawed legs on the thorax are called spirochete larvae (three-clawed larvae), and are found in ground beetles, antlions, dragonflies, etc. Caterpillar larvae always have thoracic legs, but sometimes only vestigial abdominal legs, such as the larvae of Lepidoptera and sawflies. Larvae without either thorax or abdominal legs are called maggot larvae, such as the larvae of flies and bees.
