〘Noun〙 In ancient times, Hayato (a dog-like barking dog) guarded the palace gates. It was customary for them to bark when attending imperial visits or court ceremonies. →Inubo. ※Shoki (720) Kamiyo no Kamo-Hakuseki-Kun (Kamo-Hakuseki-Kun) "He will always be your haiku poet. It is said that he is called an inuhito (dog man) ."
