A hot spring in Higashiizu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture. Pure saline spring, 80-100°C. A quiet hot spring town developed in the Showa era on Katase Beach on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula. On the opposite bank of the Shirata River is Shirata Onsen (weak saline spring, 80-100°C), and about 2km north is Atagawa Onsen, forming the Higashiizu Onsen Village. With an abundant supply of hot water and a rustic atmosphere, it is ideal for swimming, reef fishing, and recreation. A 5-minute walk from Katase Shirata Station on the Izu Kyuko Line.
