Ishimbai (English spelling)

A city in the Republic of Bashkortostan in western Russia. A mining and industrial city on the Belaya River, about 140 km south of the republic's capital, Ufa. An oil production center established in conjunction with the development of the Volga-Ural oil fields, oil production began in 1932, and oil refining began in 1936. Other industries include oil industry equipment manufacturing and food. Population 71,000 (1991 estimate).

ロシア西部，バシコルトスタン共和国の都市。共和国首都ウファの南約 140km，ベーラヤ川にのぞむ鉱工業都市。ボルガ＝ウラル油田の開発に伴ってつくられた採油中心地で，1932年採油開始，36年には石油精製も始った。そのほか，石油工業設備製造，食品などの工業がある。人口7万 1000 (1991推計) 。
