When he was relieved of his duties as Nagasaki magistrate in June 1770, he was rewarded for his achievements and his stipend was increased by 300 koku to 800 koku. He was ordered to continue serving the Nagasaki government in Edo. Later, while also serving as a chief retainer of the Tayasu family, in 1776 he served as the Shogun Tokugawa Ieshige's advisor for the Nikko Shrine and in reducing the expenses of the Imperial Court. In April of the same year, he was transferred to caretaker duties, and resigned in October of the Tenmei period (1782).
