Ijebu Kingdom

...an ethnic group living in the area of ​​West Africa stretching from Nigeria to the People's Republic of Benin and Togo. With a total population of 15 million (1973), more than 90% of them live in southwestern Nigeria. Their language (Yoruba) belongs to the Kwa group of the Niger-Kordofan language family. They are an agricultural people whose main crops are yams, cassava, and corn, but they have traditionally formed large urban settlements and developed their own political organizations (according to 1931 statistics, 80% of the total population was concentrated in settlements with a population of 2,000 or more, and 35% lived in cities with a population of 20,000 or more).
