…Ikenobo also went into a period of decline, but because of its ancient traditions it was revived earlier than other schools, and once again maintained a dominant position in the world of Ikebana in the Meiji period. However, many people left Ikenobo to pursue freer creativity, and Yoshimura Kaun's Ikenobo Ryusei School and Ohara Unshin's Ohara School were established, and in the Taisho period artists with innovative styles, such as Adachi Choka's Adachi Shiki School, became independent and started their own schools. After World War II, Ikenobo began to focus on not only modern moribana and nage, but also on research into contemporary Ikebana, and also sought to expand overseas. …
